So, why is it happening?

Certainly, this issue occurs when you’ve got a driver issue or an app that is not compatible with Windows 10.

To check if it’s an app issue or driver issue, please open your Task Manager.

Right-click on your taskbar and select Task Manager. If your Task Manager is NOT flickering but other parts of your screen do, it’s an incompatible app issue.

However, if the rest of your screen is flickering, including your Task Manager, then it’s a driver issue.

Step 1: Update and/or Reinstall

If your Task Manager is not flickering, you need to check your installed applications on your computer. It’s either you update your applications or removed incompatible ones.

Let’s start with updating your apps:

First, let’s target your recently installed apps on your computer. If you have encountered the issue just after installing an app. That would most likely be the culprit here.

Please open the program, you can usually see update options on the app settings.

If you have downloaded the app from Microsoft Store, please update your app.

Let’s uninstall and reinstall the app:

1. Please go to your Start and open Settings

3. Click on Apps & features

4. Select the app that causing the issue and click Uninstall

5. Click Uninstall button again to uninstall

If you have the app from the Microsoft App Store, please see the steps below.

1. Please go to your Start and type Microsoft Store

3. Select My Library

4. Select the app you want to reinstall

5. Then, select Install

Step 2: Adjust Monitor Refresh Rate

Generally, a higher refresh rate produces smoother screen performance and less screen flickering problems. Thus, let’s try to adjust your monitor’s refresh rate and see what works best for you.

1. Please right-click on any empty space on your desktop and click Display settings

2. Select Advanced display settings

3. Click Display adapter properties for Display 1

4. Click Monitor, then click the Screen refresh rate drop-down and select your screen refresh rate

5. Then, click OK

For this, you could run trial and error and check what’s best for your monitor.

Step 3: Update your Display Driver

If your Task Manager is flicking and the rest of your screen. Let’s proceed to update your drivers. This is most likely be the reason why you are experiencing this issue.
